Hey sorry if this is morbid, but it's on my mind and I gotta get it down somewheres.

I was reading this Times article, and the part about how Sammy Green actually died really got me. It says, "Right before he passed, he smiled that crooked grin, sighed, and that was that". For some reason, my image of passing quietly from age or disease always was one of dealing with a small amount of pain for a long time, and it crescendoing until the body gives in to entropy and ceases its functions. As I thought more about it, I wondered if passing is anything comparable to falling asleep, where your body gradually shuts down, much like a car with no brakes or a puck on ice. I think if I had to go, I'd prefer to just run down.

Scattered.

I went from having so much free time that I didn't know what to do with myself, to having next to none, making overlapping plans with people, and generally being busy as hell.

I still have 0 out of my 3 books for my courses, it is more than a little frustrating.

As a neat and tidy segue, I don't know if you read Dinosaur Comics, reader, but if you don't you should start. Today they had a good point, about judging the people of the past for their racism, sexism, and general meanness. For instance, upstanding members of southern societies that harbored racist thought or possibly even owned slaves would be considered heinously immoral by our standards today.

Back then though, they thought themselves to be completely justified.

Can we judge the past on the morals of today? Or is it just pointless to even look back, so long as we have learned from the past and continue to move forward? Food for thought, I suppose.

My friend asked me today if I would rather be a bird or a fish.

I immediately responded with bird, because wanderlust hits me hard fairly often, and the ability to just pick up and move across the country at the drop of a hat would be wonderful. Also you wouldn't have to breathe your own urine.

I think I just want to fly.

It's pretty simple. Maybe BASE jump? I don't know if I have the balls for that, but it'd be exhilarating.

Entirety?

I just figured out today how to use RSS Feeds, my Apple Mail has been totally redefined.

I have been thinking about teaching again. I guess that doesn't mean a whole lot. I've been thinking about West Point a lot too. Doesn't necessarily mean I'll act, but the thoughts are definitely there.

I'm also trying to be more decisive and less scatterbrained, like actively listening to an entire cd instead of skipping through the tracks when I get bored. Also reading for extended periods of time and talking and walking deliberately and slowly.

"One small step for me, one giant leap for social interaction" sort of idea.

Queues

I always feel like the line for anything gets longer right after I get to the front.
Not all the time, just most of the time.

Like in restaurants. Or food lines. Or the DMV.

I wonder if there are people that go through life in the middle of lines.

Or even at the end.

Though I guess they'd never know it.

Ratatat was the best concert I have ever been to hands down.

No words.
